In 1930, Robert Petrie, then City Engineer for the City of Marion, founded the company now known as Randall Miller and Associates (RMA). Over the next 40 years it grew steadily, earning a reputation for quality work built on careful evaluation and a complete understanding of each client's needs.

Today RMA serves clients across Indiana and Ohio. Advances in technology, from electronic distance measuring (EDM) instruments to the Global Positioning System (GPS), have helped RMA build the expertise today's fast-changing surveying world demands. We're known for diversity, quality, and timeliness, and that has earned us a reputation for excellence.

• 1930
  Founded in Marion
  Robert Petrie, Marion's City Engineer, starts the firm.
• 1970s
  Current ownership begins
  Randall Miller becomes a full partner alongside then-President Robert Benedict.
• 1984
  Move to Wabash Road
  After Mr. Benedict's death, the company relocates to 1911 Wabash Road and grows under Randall Miller's guidance.
• 1993
  Downtown Marion
  RMA moves to its current headquarters at 145 East Third Street.
• 1998
  Muncie office opens
  The first satellite office, in downtown Muncie.
• 2003
  J.H. Stephens joins RMA
  The Wabash surveying firm and its extensive survey files become part of RMA, serving Huntington, Miami, and Kosciusko counties.
• 2013
  Monticello office opens
  Truly local service for northwest Indiana.
